Designer Spotlight: Canadian Designer Andy The Ahn

Canada is exporting a new fashion designer to the states. Enter Andy the Ahn. His collections are readily available all over Canada and are now available in the U.S. at Neiman Marcus, and at smaller boutiques. His line is full range consisting of separates (jackets, pants, shirts, dresses). But I am always drawn to the dresses because I love dresses. They are so easy. Wearing a dress is such a great way to be stylish without a lot of effort. Just add a great necklace, fab shoes and the perfect handbag - and you are on your way. I love the color choices of his SS2010 line. It falls right in line with the bold color trend happening now. R.I.P. Fashion Genius, Alexander McQueen

What other designer could take plaid (tartan) and make it look this amazing? None. None, other than the fashion genius, Alexander McQueen. When I started going through my emails this morning, I thought that I had misread the breaking news headline from WWD. So I clicked on it and it was still saying the same thing - "Alexander McQueen commits suicide." I was blown. So I started googling his name and there is was again and again - "McQueen found dead in his London home." My heart was very sad. He was an amazing designer. Fashion Designer Spotlight: Nicholas Kirkwood

You know my fashion lust is primarily about shoes. I can not buy clothes for months, but can't go too long without buying a pair of fab shoes. So this week's fashion designer spotlight is on the way fabulous Nicholas Kirkwood. Kirkwood, the darling British designer who graced the fall 2008 runways from New York to Milan, has consistenly pushed the envelope on shoe designs with his unusual shapes, mixture of leathers and textures, and color palettes.
