Believe it or not, I was too much of a tomboy to be a Girl Scout. Otherwise, I totally would have been a Girl Scout. Thank goodness, some things never change. Even now, the Girl Scout mission is the same - to build character, ready girls for success, and teach girls to give back. So it was so wonderful to see someone one give a little something back to young girls who have given their time and efforts to their communities.
On Monday, September 27th, Circe of Alexandria Salon & Day Spa treated an Alexandria Girl Scout troop to complimentary makeovers including haircuts, makeup applications and styling lessons from the salon’s award winning staff. Salon owner, Ellen Vlasak summed it up. "This is our way of showing our appreciation for all the work these Girls Scouts have done for their community," said Vlasak. "With these make overs we hope the girls will feel as special and beautiful as we all know they are."
In addition to haircuts and makeup applications from Circe’s professional stylists, the teens will receive cupcakes from Hello Cupcake, gift bags filled with Circe products and a raffle ticket for a complimentary mother-daughter spa day.
This is a subject very close to my heart. Even though I have boys, I feel a responsibility to help young girls in the DC Metro area find their way. It's opportunities like this one that helps boost the self-esteem of young girls while helping them to build the confidence that they need to conquer the world.
My hats off to Ellen Vlasak for doing her part to help our young girls be the best that they can be.
